NieuCommunities currently has communities in three diverse parts of the world: South Africa, San Diego and in Canada. Each of these locations offers something uniquely different than the others: a uniqueness shaped by its context. Each context flavors the life and rhythm of each community, and it certainly shapes the communities’ missional engagement. Regardless of the location, each of our communities sets out each year to pursue God relentlessly, to put ourselves in a place where our faith and character can be shaped in the crucible of community, and to submerge into the cultures around us. We embrace the same values and the same commitments. We draw from a common pool of learnings and resources and we are pursuing the same outcome: missional people living missional lives.
We’re often asked if we have hopes of starting new communities in new places. The answer to that is yes! Our communities are always morphing, always gathering, and always sending. We’ve banded and disbanded. We’ve moved on from some cities (e.g. Los Angeles and Glasgow) and we’re always considering new ones. So “where” we’re at is always moving…which is the both the nature of missional communities and an opportunity for you to explore and move with us.
